Biofuels Are a Disaster

As if you need still more convincing that biofuels are a total bust no matter how you look at them, check out this article on five myths about biofuels.

Biofuels Crimping Oil? Balderdash!

Lately the media have been full of pronouncements by oil companies and oil-producing countries that if consumer countries are going to go all-out with biofuel development and production, it makes no sense for oil-producing countries to increase production, or for oil companies to build new refining capacity.

What a line of BS! Anyone with half a brain knows that biofuels are produced with copious quantities of fossil fuels. No fossil fuels, no biofuels. And since the biofuel industry is a giant scam which consumes more energy than it produces (while enriching a few people at the expense of many), it logically follows that to produce more biofuels, it is necessary to consume more fossil fuels. Even investors are waking up to the fact that biofuels are a bust.

So, what’s this really all about? It’s a convenient smoke screen to hide peak oil. Oil producers and refiners can all claim that they are not expanding production capacity because of the biofuel boom. And the gullible world public, which has been led to believe that biofuels are “environmentally friendly” and “making us independent of foreign oil,” will lap up this corporate media vomit as always. In reality, oil producers and refiners can’t expand production, but they can hide it with this handy excuse.

Biofuel Stupidity

This story about biofuels contains so much stupidity that it’s hard to know where to begin when critiquing it.

Basically, some dude has been fueling his diesel Mercedes with soybean oil (spending a pile of money to convert it for that purpose), and now he’s being fined for not paying fuel tax. The article is telling us that we are supposed to think this guy is doing us a favor because it’s supposedly eco-friendly or because this reduces US dependence on foreign oil, and that we are supposed to get angry with the state and federal governments for fining him because of their short-sightedness.

Sure, fining this guy for using vegetable oil that doesn’t include the fuel tax is petty. But the real stupidity is that the federal and state governments are promoting biofuels, which we know are a total bust. And there is more stupidity in the belief by drivers that they’re doing good by using them, and “thumb[ing] their noses at oil sheiks.” Doesn’t anyone notice that copious inputs of fossil fuels are needed to make biofuels? You end up putting more energy into them than you are getting out.

Then the article says, “State Sen. Stan Bingham, R-Denton, is known around Raleigh for his diesel Volkswagen fueled by used soybean oil. The car sports a ‘Goodbye, OPEC’ sign.” We know that many lawmakers are stupid, and here is another example. Does the good senator have any idea how soybeans are grown and processed to produce soybean oil? The irony of using soybean oil whose production is heavily dependent on foreign petroleum, and then putting a sign on your car that says “Goodbye, OPEC” is a howler. Not to mention that it makes food more expensive.

Also, we see that governments are after that fuel tax because the money is needed for road construction. Doesn’t anybody think ahead? As fuel becomes more expensive and a significant portion of the population gets priced out of the market, governments will be faced with the dilemma of lowering fuel taxes to make fuel more affordable while giving up the money needed to maintain roads. So to keep people on the road, they will have to let roads and bridges fall into disrepair. It’s a classic catch-22 that will further push the petroleum economy into a downward spiral.

But stupid is as stupid does, and now you can watch as governments around the world grasp at straws and try to keep a dying system afloat.

Cashing in on the ‘War on Terror’

Do you still doubt that 9/11 set a giant gravy train in motion for the neocons and their ilk? In addition to keeping the population in line and controlled like cattle, the phony “war on terror” is an unprecedented cash cow for connected elites, as detailed here. Invent a deadlier weapon or a new technology to control and spy on people, claim it’s meant to fight terrorism, and listen to your cash-register ka-ching!

The Elite Mind

American soldiers are dying in Iraq, but doing a great job, claimed conservative commentator Michael Reagan, revealing that elites think it’s OK for us little people to die in the desert for his elitist agenda. So, when a soldier has been shot and is dying in the sand and heat, we can make him feel good about it by assuring him that he’s doing a great job by dying for oil. More elitist crap from people wearing nice suits and sitting in air conditioned studios.

Oh yea. And then there’s the fear among elites that the “white Christian power structure,” as Bill O’Reilly puts it, will be wiped out by the hordes of workers from other countries. And what, may I ask, happened to the Native American power structure originally in place when the white Christians came? O’Reilly’s sob-story just breaks my heart.
