Globalization Is Dead

The globalization craze was built on cheap and plentiful energy. Sending raw materials, finished goods, energy, and even shiploads of waste around the world makes sense when the energy to do so adds only a slight cost to whatever you’re doing. Even air freight makes sense when you can send something to its destination on the other side of the world in a day for a pittance.

But times are changing. People not caught up in the euphoria of globalization and “progress” could see that this couldn’t go on forever. And now we see that high crude prices are indeed beginning to kill globalization.

What to do? Localize, localize, localize.
